The British Council Pakistan has been invited to nominate two teachers for the Hornby Trust Long Term Award. The awards are for full-time UK-based TEFL/TESL Diploma or Masters courses of 9-12 months duration (not short courses, PhD or other kinds of courses).

Who should apply?
We are seeking an individual from an ELT background and who is in a position to pursue a full time course of study in the UK. They should ideally be enthusiastic and motivated, committed to the improvement of ELT within Pakistan and eager to share any knowledge gained in overseas study with colleagues in their field. They would also be expected to engage in ongoing fruitful co-operation with the British Council as Hornby Alumni.

Applicants must also supply two academic references in the form of written testimonials addressed to British Council (not marked "To whom it may concern"). These references must include comments on the potential of the candidate to introduce change in the teaching of English on their return home. Candidates should also express and explain their preference from among the following universities: 

University of Leeds
Lancaster University 
The College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth
The University of Warwick 
University of Stirling

They should not, however, apply directly to the institution themselves and no guarantee can be made that they would be placed at their first choice university.

Only candidates short listed for interviews, conducted in the first week of March, will be informed of the results of the selection panel. Please also note that preference will be given to candidates who have not been short listed for two consecutive years.
